For this DIY project, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • One 6-ft piece of 1″ x 12″ board
  • One pack of #6 2-inch drywall screws
  • Circular saw
  • Drill and 1/8-inch drill bit
  • Measuring tape
  • Carpenter’s Square
  • Clamps
  • Pencil
  • Sanding block
  • Safety goggles
  • Paint or stain, paintbrush, safety gloves (optional)

1. Using your measuring tape, measure and mark the pieces you’ll need. Using the 1″ x 12″, you’ll need to measure seven different pieces:

  • One piece 10 inches long
  • One piece 8 inches long
  • One piece 7-1/4 inches long
  • One piece 4-1/2 inches long
  • One piece 3 inches long
  • Two smaller 3″ x 3″ pieces

2. Use a circular saw to make the cuts. Make sure to line the blade up to the right of your measurement to keep the links accurate.

3. If you’re planning to paint or stain your project, give all the pieces a good sanding, then stain them before you assemble it. Let dry.

4. Assemble the table:

  • Set the 3″ x 12″ piece on top of the two 3″ x 3″ pieces. Pre-drill and attach with wood screws. You can clamp it to a table to help secure it.
  • Rotate the piece, then take your 4-1/2 inch piece and attach it to the side (part of it will hang over).
  • Rotate the piece again and attach the 7-1/4 inch piece on top, forming a box.
  • Attach the 10-inch piece to one edge, using the remaining 8-inch piece to help keep it secure.
  • Take the last 8-inch piece and attach it to the opposite side of the 10-inch piece.
