DIY Murphy Bed for a 200 Square-Foot Studio Apartment

A Murphy bed is a great solution for a small apartment or a guest room that does double-duty as an office, media room or play room. DIY expert Isabelle La Rue describes how she built and accessorized a DIY Murphy bed for a 200 square-foot studio apartment in this EngineerYourSpace video:

Isabelle chose a Murphy bed hardware kit to save time and built the cabinet herself so she could customize it to reflect the rustic industrial style her client was looking for. The cabinet was made using three sheets of 3/4-inch birch plywood, angle brackets and screws, and it incorporates two sconce lights made from an LED light kit and framed with wire mesh covers. The inside of the cabinet is accented with a warm orange color.
