How to Make Seed Starter Pots
Starting seeds indoors is a great way to get a head start on your garden when the weather is still cold outside, and you can make them inexpensively from items you already have in your home. Learn how to make seed starter pots in this video by Better Homes and Gardens:
You can make seed starter pots in four different ways:
Newspaper: Cut newspaper into rectangles. Fold paper to one inch longer than height of jar. Immerse paper in water. Roll paper around jar. Flatten paper around bottom. Let dry overnight.
Upcycled Box: Cut off top half of a thin cardboard box. Use extra cardboard to cut pieces for divider. Cut slits in divider pieces and fit together. Assemble divider.
Paper Towel Tube: Cut tube into three sections. Cut four slits at one end. Fold in cut flaps.
Papier-Mache: Shred newspaper and add to a crafts-specific blender. Cover completely with water and blend until smooth. Pour into strainer and press with sponge. Place paper mixture into a bowl and add 2 tbsp flour. Mix with hands. Press into muffin pans and bake for 1 hour at 200 degrees.
